Keith Butters specializes in applying design thinking to technology, digital media and marketing.

In 2001, he cofounded the groundbreaking digital agency The Barbarian Group, which has been named ‘Interactive Agency of the Year’ (Creativity) and ‘Digital Company of the Year’ (Creativity) and one of the world’s 50 most innovative companies (Fast Company). At TBG, Keith has fronted the the creative, design and technical leadership teams, releasing acclaimed interactive projects for companies including Volkswagen, PepsiCo, Burger King, Kashi and Nike, and leading large scale interactive installations for clients like Samsung and Bell Labs.

Keith has also played an instrumental role in the creation and growth of the creative coding library Cinder, which was awarded the first ever Cannes Lions Innovation Grand Prix.

He has served as a jury member for numerous awards shows including the ‘Communication Arts Interactive’ annual, has been named as one of the industry’s ‘Top 10 Technologists’ by AdWeek, and has given talks about design and technology at major industry events, including SXSWi, and PSFK’s Future of Retail conferences.

Keith also enjoys building things and is currently working on a remote–controlled T37 class racing sloop, and a Raspberry Pi based DIY drop cam & weather station.

He holds a BA from the University of Iowa in Psychology and Filmmaking.
